Welcome to the UBC Faculty of Law at Allard Hall
Fall 2011 marks the beginning of a new era for UBC Law. After many years of planning and fundraising, and two years in temporary offices and classrooms across campus, the UBC Faculty of Law welcomes the first class of new students to Allard Hall. Our brand new, state-of-the-art building was built to achieve LEED Gold certification and will provide the physical space and technology to support new approaches to teaching and research. Located on one of the most beautiful campuses in the world, the new building was also designed to enhance the strong sense of community and collegiality that are at the heart of the Faculty.
UBC Law at Allard Hall is committed to being one of the world's great centres for legal education and research. We strive to provide an inspiring educational environment and to produce outstanding scholarship with local, national and global impact. Our strong relationships with alumni, the profession, government and civil society enhance the quality and broader impact of our teaching, research and service.
Building on the foundation of over 65 years as one of North America's best public law schools, and with our new building in place, we can turn our attention to delivering on the promises of our new Strategic Plan. The plan was developed in 2010, through consultation with students, faculty, staff, alumni to identify the goals, priorities and actions that will ensure the Faculty's continued growth and success.
Every year UBC Law attracts some of the brightest minds across the country and around the globe. Our students are academically outstanding, intellectually curious, and actively-engaged in using their new knowledge and skills to help others. Our faculty members are innovative teachers and scholars who have gained national and international recognition for their contributions in areas ranging from environmental sustainability to business law. Our alumni have achieved leadership in the profession as well as in the business, government and non-profit sectors.
It is my great privilege as Dean to invite you to become a part of the UBC Law community.
