Situating Third World Approaches to International Law (TWAIL): Inspirations, Challenges and Possibilities
May 15 – 17, 2008
Faculty of Law, University of British Columbia, Vancouver
This uniquely focused workshop will be a small gathering of academics and graduate students to explore and begin to consolidate the perspectives on Third World Approaches to International Law (TWAIL).
The overall objective of this workshop is to examine a number of fundamental questions by bringing together a relatively small group of both young and established scholars from a number of different countries and disciplines who see TWAIL as central to their engagement with international law and policy. This workshop will be structured around collective engagement with some specific questions regarding the status of TWAIL as a scholarly movement. The workshop will provide a unique opportunity to discuss the past debates and traditions that feed into TWAIL, take stock of the current state of TWAIL scholarship, and explore new directions for research and activism.
The registration form for participants will be available soon.
