Graduate Students Scholarships

Entering Students

UBC Faculty of Law offers a number of entrance awards for which all prospective students are automatically considered. There is no need to fill out a separate scholarship application for these awards. A complete list of all entrance awards thus administered by UBC Law can be found at http://www.law.ubc.ca/prospective/financing/scholarships/assigned.html.

Some Entrance Scholarships require a separate application be submitted. These awards are based primarily on proven scholastic ability. We suggest that interested individuals apply for these Entrance Scholarships simultaneous with their application to UBC Law. The deadline for Entrance Scholarship applications is December 1st. A complete list of Entrance Scholarships requiring application can be found at http://www.law.ubc.ca/prospective/financing/scholarships/decapplications.html.

A third category of Entrance Awards, based primarily on non-scholastic merit and other considerations, is adjudicated after students have been accepted. A call for applications for these awards will be sent out in mid-summer. Continuing Students

Most scholarships for continuing law students do not require an application because they are awarded upon Faculty recommendation. Donated Awards lists these scholarships and allows you to search for more information on specific awards.

• However, some scholarships for continuing students do require an application. All continuing students who satisfy the stated requirements of these scholarships are eligible to apply.
  

Additional scholarships requiring an application also exist for specific groups of students:

• Aboriginal Students  - include both law-related and UBC-wide aboriginal scholarships
• Affiliation Scholarships – from specific organizations having particular eligibility criteria
• Awards for Students with Disabilities – awards range in value and eligibility criteria.
