Student Loans

Student loans are government-funded, repayable financial assistance which are provided interest-free while you are enrolled in full-time studies and which delay repayment until six months after you finish your studies.  You must meet specific minimum course load requirements to be considered a full-time student.

Canadian citizens and permanent residents can apply for student loans.  International students, such as US citizens, may qualify for loans from their home country.

To obtain a student loan, apply directly to the government assistance provider in your home province.  This one-stop process considers you for both federal and provincial loans and grants.  If you apply for a loan, you are held responsible for understanding how your province's program works, so read their information carefully.
