Tuition & Books

Tuition & Student Fees

Tuition and student fees are reviewed annually by the UBC Board of Governors and are subject to change.  Tuition fees are payable in two installments; due dates occur in the first week of September and of January.  Tuition fee deferment may be automatic if you applied for a student loan before July 31.

For 2011/12:

  • J.D. tuition is $10,338.17 per year for Canadian citizens and permanent residents, OR $344.60 per credit for Canadian students, OR $711.00 per credit for international students.
  • LL.M. and Ph.D. tuition is $4,180.26 per year for Canadian citizens and permanent residents OR $7,344.00 per year for international students.
  • LL.M. Common Law tuition is $28,154.06 per year for Canadian citizens, permanent residents and international students.

Student fees are approximately $880 per year for J.D. students, and $787 per year for Law graduate students.

Books

Books and related supply costs are estimated below.  Exact costs will depend upon your course of study.

  • J.D. books cost approximately $1,600 for First year, and $1,400 annually in Second & Third year
  • LL.M., M.Jur. and Ph.D. books cost approximately $3,300 per year.
