International Poetry Contest - Writing New Lines for Peace

Theme: Animating Peace through Poetry

For the Writing New Lines For Peace contest, the CRANE project collected poems about conflict, peace, religious or cultural differences, or conflict resolution.   Why poetry?  Poetry is an art form with a history of appeal across cultures.  Poetry has a way of articulating the full spectrum of our human experiences with new perspectives.   Beauty and celebration, along with the poignant will to survive in the midst of indignity and humiliation are often captured best in lines of poetry.   Poetry can bring form to otherwise unspeakable issues, and is therefore one of the most valuable resources that we can have for transforming ourselves and our world.
