Alumni Weekend - May 26th, 2012

On Saturday, May 26th, UBC hosted the annual Alumni Weekend, featuring more than 60 events, tours and attractions across campus. As part of the festivities, UBC Law opened its doors and invited alumni to take part in a number of exciting events, held at both Allard Hall and the Student Union Building.

At Allard Hall, UBC Law Student Ambassadors led groups of alumni on tours of the new building to showcase its many design and architectural features. In the afternoon, Dean Mary Anne Bobinski hosted a panel entitled "Protecting Our Collective Future: Highlights from Allard Hall".  The panel included Professors Emma Cunliffe, Joel Bakan and Benjamin Richardson, who each shared an overview of their research interests within the context of current social issues.

The Student Union Building was the site of the University Fair, where UBC Law had a display of photos and stories from its annual tradition: the Trike Race. This tradition began in 1972 and continues to this day. Law alumni were eager to point out their friends and colleagues and to reminisce about their own participation in past races. Next to the Student Union Building mini trike races took place throughout the day! It was a great opportunity to learn about a long-standing UBC Law tradition, and a fitting way to celebrate its 40th anniversary.

All in all it was a successful event and we look forward to seeing you again next year!
