UBC Law Hosts Joint Law School Alumni Event in London, UK
(left to right) Peter Epp (LLB '93), Jenny Paramonov (First year UBC The UBC Faculty of Law recently hosted a unique event that brought together alumni from various Canadian law schools who currently reside in the London area. UBC alumni were joined by fellow Canadian law school graduates from the University of Toronto, Osgoode and McGill. Close to 50 alumni from all years gathered at the Macdonald House, the High Commissioner of Canada's official residence in London, on May 31, 2012. Dean Mary Anne Bobinski was accompanied by fellow law school Deans: Mayo Moran from the University of Toronto, Faculty of Law; Lorne Sossin from York University, Osgoode Hall Law School; and Daniel Jutras from McGill Faculty of Law. The evening reception provided alumni with an exclusive opportunity to connect with other Canadian law school alum that live in the area. "Each of the schools represented here this evening seeks to provide opportunities for our graduates to succeed in the centres of excellence for the legal profession worldwide," said Dean Bobinski at the Canadian law schools reception. "There is a long history of Canadian law graduates assuming important roles in law worldwide and in the UK in particular. We are here this evening to acknowledge each of you as distinguished graduates of our schools and to express our gratitude to you for maintaining your connection to your alma mater." Feedback from this inaugural event was enthusiastic with many guests hoping to make this a regular event, which brings out more alumni each year and includes additional schools.
