UBC Law Alumni and Professor appointed Queen's Counsel

On December 22, 2011, Attorney General Shirley Bond announced that twenty-eight B.C. lawyers were appointed Queen's counsel, including Professor Christine Boyle and ten UBC Law alumni. The Queen's counsel designation is an honour which recognizes members of the legal community for exceptional merit and contribution to the legal profession. Successful candidates have also demonstrated professional integrity and good character.

After a public call for nominations, applications were reviewed by an advisory committee, which recommended the deserving candidates to the attorney general. The appointments were then made by cabinet through an order-in-council. Those UBC Law alumni honoured with the Q.C. designation were:

- Mr. Peter Allard ('71)
- Mr. Edward Fast ('82)
- Mr. Eugene Jamieson ('92)
- Mr. Craig Jones ('98)
- Ms. Miriam Kresivo ('82)
- Ms. Maureen Lundell ('82)
- Mr. Glen Purdy ('83)
- Mr. Winston Sayson ('88)
- Mr. Peter Spencer ('73)
- Ms. Sharon White ('80)
