UBC Law is pleased to announce that a group study room in the library of the new building will be named after the Calgary based law firm Bennett Jones, in honor of a generous gift of $125,000 toward the construction of the new building. UBC Law alumni can be found in major centres for legal practice across Canada and around the world. This gift is significant in reflecting the leadership and commitment of UBC Law alumni at Bennett Jones. "We are grateful for this generous commitment by UBC Law Alumni at Bennett Jones. The gift honours their firm and the close connection between UBC Law and our graduates and the legal profession across Canada." said UBC Law Dean Mary Anne Bobinski. "This gift represents an important investment in the future of legal education in Canada." "It is a great feeling to be part of the new law building in this way," said Darcy Moch who was instrumental in the donation along with colleague, Alan Ross. "Many of the partners of this firm are graduates of UBC Law and have fond memories of their time at law school. This gift not only represents that but also reminds us of how important this project is for this country's legal community." UBC is proud to welcome Bennett Jones to a group of law firms that have taken a leadership role in this transformative campaign for UBC Law. The new law building will be open in time for classes this fall. To learn more about the project, visit the UBC Law building website.
