Marvin Stark, Q.C., 1930- 2008
Marvin N. Stark graduated from UBC Law in 1957 and began long and passionate parallel careers as a lawyer of 50 years and as a Simon Fraser University business law professor. He was appointed a federal Queen’s Counsel in 1992 for his long and distinguished legal career, in particular for his devotion to advancing the business and social interests of native communities in BC. In 1997, he was appointed a professor emeritus by SFU, the first time that honour was bestowed on a half-time, assistant professor. In 2002, he was honoured with a Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal for his “outstanding and exemplary” contributions to Canada.
Marvin will be greatly missed by Lois, his wife of 54 years, his son Andrew, his daughters Patti and Janna, his extended family, and the many others touched by his life.
