The UBC team of Ryan Anderson and Jesse Nyman (both second year)
won the cup at the Mathews Dinsdale & Clark Canadian Labour
Arbitration Competition held in Toronto last weekend. Dalhousie
and UBC faced off for the final, before a panel chaired by John
Laskin of the Ontario Court of Appeal. Our students won scholarships
toward third year law tuition. The other schools in the competition
were Toronto, Osgoode, Queens, Alberta, Ottawa and Western.
Professor Emeritis Jim MacIntyre served as the team's faculty advisor
and provided crucial support. A number of downtown lawyers and arbitrators
also provided valuable assistance to the team by participating in
practice sessions.
Please congratulate these students and their faculty advisor.
