The Oxford International Intellectual Property (OXIP) Moot

The OXIP Moot brings students from all over the world to Oxford University for the only student competition on intellectual property rights. Students prepare written submissions on a current IP problem, and teams are selected for the oral rounds in an initial screening by the judges. The oral competition is held on the last weekend in March and hosted by the Oxford Intellectual Property Research Centre in partnership with an Oxford college that provides accommodation, food, and a venue for the events. In 2006-07, UBC sent the only Canadian team to participate in this event, reaching the quarterfinal round of the oral competition. The team was coached by Professor Mira Sundara Rajan, Canada Research Chair in Intellectual Property Law, and generously funded by Oyen Wiggs Green & Mutala LLP, a Vancouver intellectual property law firm.
