ABA NEGOTIATION COMPETITION

The American Bar Association (“ABA”) organizes a negotiation competition for law students each fall, which takes place at the regional, national and international levels. UBC has participated for several years, with a team of two students travelling to the regional competition each year.

An intraschool competition, open to all law students, takes place in the fall. Teams of two students compete against each other in an attempt to obtain, through negotiation with the other team, the best possible results for their client, as judged by members of the Vancouver bar and business community. The top team is announced at a reception following the intraschool competition and goes on to represent UBC at the regional competition, held in November.

Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP hosts the intraschool competition and provides financial assistance and training in negotiations for the team chosen to represent UBC at the regional competition.
