Prospective Students - Graduate Degree Programs
UBC Law offers three graduate degrees, each of which is tailored to provide students from diverse cultural, academic, and professional backgrounds to engage in challenging and innovative graduate study.
- The LL.M. in Common Law (LLM CL) is a course-based professional program designed to provide foundational training in the common law and Canadian law for lawyers with foreign or non-common law legal training.
- The Master of Laws (LLM) is a research-intensive degree that combines course work with a thesis to provide an opportunity for focused study.
- The Ph.D. is a research-intensive degree that includes course work and comprehensive exams that lead to a dissertation which is intended to make a substantial contribution to the chosen field of study.
