UBC LAW OFFERS SUMMER COURSES IN 2012***The UBC Law Summer Program is open to current UBC JD students only. It is not open to NCA or non-UBC law students. To apply/register, please complete form below.*** 2012 Summer Program Application Form LOCATION OF SUMMER PROGRAM CLASSES:Allard Hall 2012 SUMMER PROGRAM INFORMATION:The UBC Faculty of Law is pleased to offer students the opportunity to enroll in law courses for credit in Summer 2012. The Summer Program provides students with the opportunity to take Evidence (4 credits) and/or Trusts (3 credits) in an intensive environment. Listed below are the dates, days and times of classes. LAW 280 EVIDENCE (4 credits) LAW 250 TRUSTS (3 credits) FURTHER INFORMATION REGARDING SUMMER PROGRAM: The Summer Program is open to UBC Law students and is offered at no extra cost to full-time students. Part-time students will pay per credit for the Summer Program courses during the 2012W session. Students may enroll in one or all courses. Course credit will not be awarded immediately, but instead will be applied towards the student's credit total for the 2012/2013 academic year, and a student will elect whether the credits are applied to the Fall 2012 or Spring 2013 term. Students will be asked in July, during the 2012W registration period, to specify the term to which the Summer Program credits should be applied. Students who plan to be on exchange or a visiting student at another law school for a term in 2012W should plan for their summer program credits to be applied to the term in which they will not be on exchange. Students who transfer from UBC to another law school for September 2012 will not receive credit for summer courses. The credits a student takes in the Summer Program will count for the purpose of determining whether the student meets UBC Law's requirements respecting minimum and maximum credits per term and year. For example, if a student takes 4 credits in the summer and 32 credits in the 2012/2013 academic year, the students would exceed the maximum of 34 credits allowed for the year. The student would only be able to take 30 credits in the 2012/2013 academic year. As the credits will not be awarded until the next academic year, the Summer Program will not assist students enrolled in the full-time program to graduate early, although it may assist part-time students to do so. By enrolling in the Summer Program, a student will be able, however, to spread their coursework throughout the year and lessen their overall course load in the 2012/2013 academic year. As the UBC Law Summer Program is not part of the UBC Summer Session, you will not pay a summer session deposit or fees, and therefore, will not receive a summer UPass. Grades will not appear on student transcripts until 2012W begins. PRIORITY FOR REGISTRATION: If any class is over-enrolled, priority will be given to third year students, and a lottery for seats may be implemented if necessary. In past years, all of the students who applied for the Summer Program secured registration. LATE REGISTRATION: If there is space remaining in classes after March 27, students will be notified by e-mail that a second round of applications will be accepted. COURSE WITHDRAWAL: To withdraw from a course prior to the first day of class, please complete the 2012 Summer Program Application Form, check "Drop Course," and place it in the lock box in the Student Services waiting area near room 161 in Allard Hall, or fax it to 604-822-9486.
