WELCOME TO SYMPLICITY!
Symplicity (www.UBCLawCareers.com) is the website used by the Career Services Office (CSO) at the UBC Faculty of Law to administer career-related programs and services. Symplicity allows students to create a personal profile and record employment information; save job application documents such as resumes, cover letters and transcripts; view job postings on the online jobs board; schedule appointments with the CSO team; access CSO publications and resources; view a calendar of CSO workshops and events; and schedule on-campus interviews (OCIs) for some second-year summer legal positions.
Symplicity is password protected as it is for the exclusive use of UBC law students and alumni. All UBC law students will receive an e-mail at the beginning of their first-year of studies advising them of their personal username and password. Please do not pass on your username or password to others. Any questions regarding access to Symplicity, including by UBC Law Alumni who wish to receive their own username and password should be directed to the Program Assistant at careers@law.ubc.ca.
The purpose of Symplicity is to get you thinking about how to reach your career goals by identifying and locating tools and resources available to you. We urge you to use Symplicity in planning your job search strategy, but keep in mind it is only one of the many resources available to you. The more effort that goes into your job search, the better chance you have of getting the results you want, so use Symplicity, our counseling services and attend all of the panel presentations, and recruitment oriented events offered to you. Read the UBC Law Weekly E-Bulletin advising of upcoming events, application deadlines, and other important information.
The Director, Associate Director, and Public Interest Coordinator are available for one-on-one counseling appointments and can help you strategize about how to best prepare for your job search. We can review your application materials, conduct a mock interview, or just chat about some of your ideas regarding a potential career path.
